What are exosomes? How do they differ from stem cell therapy?

Exosomes are nano-sized vesicles, approximately 30–150 nm in diameter, secreted by cells to facilitate intercellular communication. They contain biological molecules such as proteins, lipids, mRNA, and microRNA, which can trigger repair, regeneration, and healing processes in target cells.

Like stem cell therapy, exosomes support regenerative mechanisms; however, instead of containing live cells, they carry signaling molecules that enable communication between cells. As a result, they do not contain live cells and carry a much lower risk of allergic or anaphylactic reactions due to the cell itself compared to classical stem cell therapies. Thanks to their small molecular size, exosomes can easily pass through various physiological barriers and reach target tissues.

How are exosomes produced?

Exosomes are produced in laboratory conditions from mesenchymal stem cells derived from the umbilical cord of newborns. This source offers high regenerative potential and eliminates the need to collect any tissue from the patient. Since no harvesting is required from the individual, the product is ready to use. Due to their neonatal origin, exosomes are believed to have a much higher healing and rejuvenation potential compared to those derived from adult cells.

How are exosome treatments administered?

Exosomes are typically administered via subcutaneous or intradermal injections. The procedure is similar in technique to mesotherapy or botulinum toxin treatments. Depending on the treatment area, a single session may be sufficient, but for maximum effectiveness, three sessions spaced one month apart are recommended.

What are the treatment areas and how do exosomes work?

  • Hair Loss Treatment: Exosomes improve the microenvironment around hair follicles, creating healthier conditions for growth. They stimulate cell regeneration, enhance follicle vitality, and prolong the hair growth cycle. Effective for both male-pattern hair loss (androgenetic alopecia) and female-pattern hair thinning.
  • Skin Rejuvenation: Exosomes activate fibroblasts in the skin to increase collagen and elastin production. This results in firmer, brighter skin with more even tone and reduced fine lines. Overall texture and elasticity are visibly improved.

Duration of effects and advantages

The effects of exosome treatments are generally long-lasting. Improvements in skin quality or reduction in hair loss can be noticed within a few weeks, with maximum results appearing within 6 months. No recovery time is typically required, and patients can resume daily activities the same day (minor bruising, similar to mesotherapy or botulinum injections, may occur in facial applications).

Exosomes offer a non-surgical, effective alternative for both anti-aging and hair restoration. When applied with the right protocol and indication, they yield high patient satisfaction.

How many sessions are needed and when is pricing provided?

The number of sessions and pricing are determined based on personalized assessment and consultation.
